How do I use the cheats in The Age of Decadence?

Everything worked great. Except the Unlimited Gold. It changed the number to 99999 but you actually don't have that. You have what ever gold you had. If you click on an item to buy. It changed the number to what you really have. If you buy something your gold goes down and does not go back up or stay at the same amount.
